About Canowindra

Canowindra is the balloon capital of Australia, located 30 minutes south-west of Orange. It is famous for the annual Canowindra International Balloon Challenge and the Age of Fishes Museum, which houses a world-significant 360-million-year-old fossil site. The heritage main street (Gaskill Street) is wide, flat, and lined with cafes and shops.

Canowindra is 30 minutes from Orange and 45 minutes from Cowra. No public transport — best accessed by car.
