We’re building Access Actually for everyone — and that means making the site itself accessible too. Here’s where we’re at, what we’re working on, and how you can help us get better.

What we’re aiming for

We’re working to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. That’s the internationally recognised standard for making websites usable by as many people as possible — including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification, or other assistive tools.

We don’t think of accessibility as a box to tick. It’s an ongoing effort, and we’re committed to improving.

What the site currently supports

• Keyboard navigation throughout the site
• Screen reader support with proper heading structure and ARIA attributes
• Sufficient colour contrast (minimum 4.5:1 ratio)
• Text resizing — layout works at 200% zoom
• Focus indicators on all interactive elements
• Alt text on images and meaningful link labels
• Forms with visible labels and clear error messages
• Consistent, predictable layout across all pages
• No content that flashes more than three times per second
• Works on mobile devices and touch-based assistive tools

What we’re still working on

We’re honest about the fact that we’re not perfect yet:

• Interactive maps — keyboard and screen reader experience needs improvement. We provide text-based location info alongside every map.
• Some third-party content (like payment forms) follows their own accessibility standards.
• Older user-submitted photos may not yet have descriptive alt text.
